21 Day Challenge – Week 6

February 20, 2011

The Final Week

Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it’s who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment.

Congratulations this is your last week! Wishing you the best of luck, you should be proud of yourself for making it this far. I cannot wait to read your conclusion journals and thoughts on this experience. Your journey and transformation has been an inspiration to follow. I am proud of you all!

With love

Happy June Everyone!

1st and foremost we have a personal invite for you – take a look:

Meghan’s Nutrition Advice:
HealthySnacksSnacking throughout the day is a great way to keep your metabolism revved, however, make sure to give your digestive system the time it needs. Take a 3-4 hour break between meals and snacking so that digestion, absorption, assimilation, and elimination of food can happen without interruption.

Eva’s Fitness Advice:
womentreadmillIf you can’t find the time to commit to group classes, then try to workout with a reliable partner who shares the same goals as you. Coaching and cheering on your partner can be a great way to incorporate extra motivation and will in turn excite you to push yourself as well.

Real Quick Fitness and Nutrition Tips #3

May 22, 2009

Simple, no nonsense ways of staying fit while living life to its… …FULLEST!

Meghan’s Nutrition Advice:
1) BBQ season is upon us…have you ever looked at the ingredient list of your BBQ Saucesfavourite condiments? Take a look at your ketchup and bbq sauce…shocking isn’t it; sugar, sugar, and more sugar!

Sugar is one of the hardest things to avoid when buying commercial food products, you’ll find it’s hidden in everything. Reducing the amount of sugar from your diet has a long list of health benefits…don’t get me started…I’m a recovering sugar addict.

One of the best ways to reduce sugar from your diet is to make these sauces at home, from scratch, so that you can control everything that goes in to them. Try this sugar-free, gluten-free bbq sauce recipe:

Sugar & Gluten-Free BBQ Sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 cloves garlic, crushed
¼ cup shallots, minced
1 small can tomato paste
1 cup orange juice, fresh squeezed
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon dry mustard powder
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper

bbqsauce1. Warm oil in a saucepan over medium low heat
2. Add garlic and shallot; cook until soft
3. Add tomato paste, orange juice, vinegar, mustard, paprika, salt and pepper
4. Simmer over low heat 15 to 20 minutes, stirring often
5. Baste over fish or chicken
6. Refrigerate and allow to marinate for 1-3 hours
7. Grill and serve

Serves 6 -makes enough sauce for one whole chicken or 4 breasts

Eva’s Fitness Advice:

soccerGet Fit With Friends This Summer- Take advantage of the weather, get outside and get fit! Plan a weekend walk or run with a friend and make it a healthy lunch date to reward yourselves afterwards – its a great way to socialize and exercise all at once. Also, consider taking up a sport this summer, like joining a Tennis club, Soccer team or a Running group – All great ways to enjoy the outdoors, meet people and exercise at the same time.
