The Final Week

Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it’s who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment.

Congratulations this is your last week! Wishing you the best of luck, you should be proud of yourself for making it this far. I cannot wait to read your conclusion journals and thoughts on this experience. Your journey and transformation has been an inspiration to follow. I am proud of you all!

Eva Redpath and Robyn Baldwin Mid Month Motivation

Robyn Baldwin is a former cfl cheerleader turned model, fitness competitor, dancer and advertising media executive by day. Robyn completed her Honours Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Marketing in 2005 and found a passion in Advertising. She found the psychology of consumer behaviour fascinating and has pursued a career in Media (the strategic, analytical side of Advertising).

Robyn craves being busy and started the process of training for fitness competitions in February of 2009. Robyn is a fan of women in the gym who embrace lifting weights, a yoga enthusiast and fascinated with the nutritional side of health.  Robyn researched and trained for a slew of fitness competitions in the Fall of 2009 learning as she went. She sucessfully competed in 5 competitions and is hooked.

1) NUTRITION

Tips from Meghan Ford – How To Build a Healthy Meal

Here are the 4 items that every meal should include:

  1. A complex carbohydrate. Complex carbs will provide long lasting energy and are rich in many nutrients and fibre.  Example: whole grain wild rice
  2. A quality source of protein.  Protein keeps blood sugar balanced which will keep you satisfied for longer allowing for less cravings for sweet foods later in the day.  Example: chickpeas which are a great vegetarian source of protein and they contrast nicely with the rice in both texture and colour.
  3. Good fat. Avoid the cheap processed fats and oils and choose a healthy oil that will provide flavour to the meal as well as it’s good for inflammation and is a brain food.  Example: olive oil vinaigrette but flaxseed oil would be another great choice.
  4. Vegetables. Possibly the important and oftentimes overlooked.  Rich in fibre, vitamins, and minerals.  Example: diced red pepper and shredded spinach.  Be creative with your veggies, choose different colours and textures to make your meals more exciting.

That’s how easy it is to build a delicious and truly complete meal.

Toronto Women’s Fitness Classes 2010 Session Dates

The following are the finalized dates and details for the first session of my Toronto Women’s Only Body Conditioning by Dancers classes for the New Year.

Registration will open this Tuesday December 15th.

Incase you need a little convincing that this is the ONLY fitness class you NEED this year take a look at my new class demo

Different from the usual format, this session will start off with a week of preview classes, followed by the 8 week session starting one week later.

Preview Class Dates:
Wednesday January 6th 8:05pm
Thursday January 7th 10:00am & 8:05pm
Sunday January 10th 12:10pm
Monday January 11th 10:00am & 8:05pm

Preview Class Details:
The preview class will consist of a 1 hour version of the new session, followed by a presentation of the BCBD New Years Challenge – a 21 day workbook I’ve developed to help you set fitness and nutrition New Years Resolutions and keep them!

Drop in rate of $15 per class, RSVP required, limit of 12 participants per class

Please Note: The session dates start one week later, as I will be out of the city from January 13th-20th. Attendance in the preview classes is not mandatory, they were created as an option for those who desire to fill the time before the start of the 8 week session.
