Are you an “athlete in training”?

August 8, 2012

Bucket lists … that catchy little term that became enormously popular a few years ago thanks to a movie of the same name which inevitably made audiences do a double-take on their life goals.

Sometimes life gets ahead of us and before we know it, we’ve reached the point where “kicking the bucket” is very near. We all have personal goals; some daily, weekly or yearly. Some which pertain to our careers or social life. But a bucket list is much bigger, much more fun and something that can really inspire you to get a move on life!

With the 2012 Summer Olympics upon us and quickly coming to an end, I started thinking about bucket lists. I’m sure for some athletes, making it to the Olympics and accomplishing that HUGE dream was definitely on their bucket list.

While we may never see a shiny gold medal hanging around our necks, we should all take a cue from this historic event and start thinking like Olympians. Look at your own fitness bucket lists! Do you have one?

Everyone can be an athlete. Some of us are in training and some of us are not. If you think of yourself as an athlete, will that change how you feel about yourself and your personal fitness journey? Perhaps!

_____________________________________________________________________

What’s on your fitness bucket list?

It’s time to start taking your fitness level to a bigger and better place. Now is the time to create some life goals pertaining to your athleticism. Be your own Olympian and create a fitness bucket list with some dreams you want to fulfill before you die. Dream big!

These aren’t little goals of eating healthy and staying active. I want you to pick something that you can work towards. Maybe a 10 year plan, maybe something you want to accomplish later in life but start training now.

Maybe you want to…

  • Run a marathon
  • Learn how to surf
  • Swim a long-distance in open water
  • Learn to stand up paddle board
  • Scuba Diving somewhere tropical
  • Play rugby
  • Compete in a Strongman competition
  • Cycle a long distance somewhere
  • Climb a mountain

Now create that list with some specific dreams and goals pertaining to you as an “athlete in training”.

  • Write it down and revisit it often.
  • Make a plan – pick something off the list to accomplish each year. Maybe break down your ultimate goals into smaller ones
  • Start small and make some goals that are easily obtainable at first. Put them in order of easiest to hardest. Once you accomplish something cross it off. It will feel amazing!
  • Don’t be afraid to add new goals all the time. Nothing is too outrageous. Have fun! Think outside the box.
  • Target a bucket list specifically to different areas of your life. This one is fitness
  • Include something you can do today!

21 Day Challenge – Week 6

February 20, 2011

The Final Week

Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it’s who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfillment.

Congratulations this is your last week! Wishing you the best of luck, you should be proud of yourself for making it this far. I cannot wait to read your conclusion journals and thoughts on this experience. Your journey and transformation has been an inspiration to follow. I am proud of you all!

With love

Eva

October’s Healthy Lifestyles Video Blog with Eva Redpath

October 3, 2010

Welcome to my monthly newsletter.  You can now look forward to my fitness and nutrition tips and motivation in its new Video Format.

This Month’s Topics:

1) NUTRITION: Snack Time – Greek Yogourt

2) FITNESS:  Exercise of the Month – BCBD Side Plank Ritire

3) WELLNESS:  Emergen-C

4) NEWS: Extreme Fitness & StreetDance 3D, BCBD 6 Week Pre Holiday Session

1) NUTRITION

While Greek Yogourt has the reputation of being thicker & not as sweet. A one-cup serving of regular yogurt has about ten grams of protein, while a one-cup serving of Greek Yogurt has about 20 grams of protein.

I recommend buying the plain or vanilla flavor.

Snack Idea: In the morning pack Greek Yogourt, Cinnamon, and frozen Blueberries in a leakproof, secure container. Its a perfect snack that stays cold all day long until snack time.

Other Delicious Snack Ideas: I also use Greek yogourt in smoothies. With Honey & Nuts or Granola.  The possibilities are endless.

I have definitely developed a love for a product that packs a protein punch and leaves me feeling full and satisfied!

2) FITNESS

3) WELLNESS

The  powerful blend of vitamin C, 24 nutrients, 7 B vitamins, antioxidants and electrolytes. Emergen-C supports your immune system, increases your metabolic function and enhances your energy level.

For those like me who don’t love the taste of water, simply empty a pack of Emergen-C into your water in the morning – its a great way to start the day.

I bought a 30 pack at the health food store. This was my trick to staying healthy while traveling this past summer it supports your health and enhance your energy naturally.

Flavours: Pink Lemonade, Raspberry, Acia Berry, Tangerine, Tropical, Lemon Lime, Cranberry Pomegranate, Super Orange

Hot, Cold or on the go!

A Little Encouragement To Live By In October:

Every second you spend thinking about what you don’t want in your life is a second denying focus and energy from getting what you do want. Every minute you worry about what’s not working is a minute drawn away from creating what will work. And every hour spent reflecting on the disappointments of the past is an hour stolen from seeing the possibilities that your future holds.

If you like what you are seeing, tried last months tips, then please take a minute and let me know…

Be well,
